I have already ordered a new valeo motor from eeuroparts ($100), but it won't arrive until a week from friday (shipping to Canada). I am of the opinion that if I am changing this outdoors in likely -10 or colder weather, I want to have a working part I can install quickly. Spring/summer/fall I would take a different approach, but due to Murphy's law, everything breaks in the dead of winter!
However, this fogging up is a pita, somewhat dangerous, and if temps drop again (they will this weekend) it would help to have it working. Do we know a source of readily available brushes that fit or could be made to fit this motor? or even dimensions/spec of the brushes?
I planned to rehab the motor anyway as a spare for our other 9-5, but was hoping to tackle it with less time pressure!
