Usually you can notice the dark soot around the leaking area. If you look were the first stud is over by the power steering pump it may be missing. It is one of the long studs with a spacer on it. It is prone to breakage. But sometimes it is other ones that break. I have also seen the nuts just loosen up too. Usually I remove the heat shield then have someone else start the car cold while I am up there feeling around. Good Luck, Bernie
