Strange Air Conditioning/heating behavior Cold on drivers side, hot on Passenger side

This has happened a few (3-4?) times over the last few years and I can’t figure out the problem.
Its about 80 degrees out and turn on the AC set to Auto, both L and R setpoint are at 66 degrees.
Cold air out of the drivers side vent, and the drivers center vent. hot air out the passenger center and side vents. Vent at back seat, e.g. end of the console is blowing hot air.
Switch to floor discharge…. Cold air on driver side, hot air on passenger side. Hot air on center back console.

Adjusting the temp setpoint as well as switching to defrost does not fix the problem.
Turned climate control off, then on, same behavior.
Thoughts on how to check this out? Any error codes with this kind of failure?
