My late father was a Macgyver and he made them out of 3 stacked 2x10s of varying lengths with angle cuts for easy on/off. A 2x2 on the high end provides a decent end blocker. I still use his units. I once accidentally drove off the end of them when I thought i was on the intermediate step but they did no damage to my car since they are low profile and wood. I also block my rear tyres front and back for extra insurance.
