Passenger side auto-dimming mirror Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Fri, 12 Jul 2019 09:21:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 2008 9-5 SportCombi has the typical issue where the passenger side self-dimming mirror has a grown burnt brown haze growing from the bottom up on the mirror.
I saw that eEuroparts recently had that OEM part on sale, so I ordered one and I expected to come as an assembled unit to replace the original passenger side mirror assembly, but instead it is just the front and back plastic shell ready for painting and the mirror in a separate box. Given that, I am thinking it must be possible then to just disassemble the existing passenger side mirror assembly and swap out the discolored mirror for the new mirror. (Saving the trouble of painting the new housing...just reuse the original housing on the car.)
Anyone done that and have instructions/tips on how to take that mirror assembly apart without breaking anything? The new part did not come with any instructions.
