Can't really see a the cylinder walls too well. And it is a gamble. I have known people to hone the cylinder wall smooth and install a new piston and have it work for a long time with minor noise and a little more oil usage. And I have known people to do the same thing and still have too much room and a fair amount of noise and a repeat of piston damage in 3,000 to 10,000 miles. So it's a gamble. Without seeing how bad the cylinder wall is scored its hard to say. If it was me I would hone it out and give it a go. Only real loss is time if you have no plans to pull the engine.
