There are 3 stepping motors.. from what I recall, 1 Left, 1 Right, and and mixer/blend for the outside air.. also on the passenger/right side, above the one labeled R.

I would try removing the motors.. and then physically moving the levers with your hand while the system is running to see if there's any change in behaivor.. That would rule out the lever/blend doors and stepping motors as mechanical issues.. I'm guessing one of those is your problem.. but maybe you haven't targeted the correct one? I know that's happened to me in the past..

The fact that you are getting hot air in various locations.. just not where expected.. tells me the door or lever is binding.. or the stepping motor may not be indexed correctly...
