For my 2008 9-5 Aero, the passenger side mirror control stopped and then same for driver side. Not a bad fix to carefully pull off the upper door window plastic trim surround that holds the switch and disconnect and take out the switch for disassembly. I only broke one of the molded switch body side clips in the process. Inside is a small printed circuit board with no electronic components. A flex silicone pad with small gold plated round contacts complete the circuit with the separate up/down/left/right contacts when the control button is toggled. Culprit seemed to be some contact corrosion of the separate slide switch contacts for switching from one side mirror to the other. A cleanup with electronic contact spray on a Q-tip and followed up with secret sauce Stabilant 22 electronic contact enhancer (miracle stuff!!) and a little extra repair to the auto mirror tilt backup button (plastic plunger end fixed with epoxied toothpick stub) and all worked like new when re-assembled and put back into the car. Maybe spraying contact cleaner into a side slot might have worked, but this oughtta work for years to come. Maybe could have bought a working used switch for $25 plus shipping, but what would I have learned??!!
