Major oil leak

After taking the timing cover off to replace timing and balance chain guides the engine has a major oil leak (approximately one litre per 5 minutes). I can't see the source because the motor mount is in the way. I've checked the timing chain tensioner and am confident it is not the source, but the source is somewhere high up on the engine. If I could remove the right hand motor mount and run the engine I think I could locate the leak. Has anyone tried doing this?
