Both posts above, excellent.
My '01 was utterly transformed by the replacement of the positive battery cable. I waited until 2016; dumbest thing I've ever done on a 9-5.
By all means replace the CPS if the cable doesn't do the cure. These tasks are child's play and get results so often. Don't do a fuel pump if you don't have to, I say.
