Thanks for bringing back this long dead thread to life. No, I don't work for a tire company. But I am a firm believer in common sense. People do what people do, and if some people want to save a few cents or whatever by downgrading the speed of their tires while choosing to spend $35k or more for a car-that's their business.
Just don't go suing SAAB or whoever else one can think of to blame when those tires go POOF! on the road. You should be held liable for your decision to not go with the manufacturers recommendation.
For anyone thinking about downgrading the speed of their tires, just call SAAB USA and ask them what they recommend. Ask your dealer. If they say fine, then it's fine.
Reminds me of a commercial my wife saw on TV last nite-reminding people not to leave their kids in the car in the summer. She was surprised by that commercial. I wasn't. I told her "hey, these people have a license to drive!"
Think about that.
