I just sold a 1998 BMW 328i that I bought new. I've owned my 2002 Saab 9.5 Arc for 5 days now. I'll share some impressions. Because of the weak car market I actually thought I might be able to get a good deal on a 2002 BMW 530i. No such luck, might have have been able to get $1500 off a $45000 car. I guess that means they are selling everything they make. Because I can get a GM supplier discount and there were substantial discounts I looked at the Saab 9.5. I think the interior of the Saab is first class and the seats are very comfortable. My bimmer was rather spartan and I was never comfortable sitting in the car. I think the large tunnel made my lean my right leg inward which caused discomfort in my thigh. The Saab trunk is large and the rear seats fold down to make a huge cargo area . The air conditioner in the Saab is far superior to the BMW. The bimmer could not keep up on a hot day in Atlanta. Now the bimmer had it's strengths. I will truly miss the 2.8 liter in line 6. It is a strong pulling, exceptionaly smooth power plant. The Saab will never handle as well as a 3-Series bimmer. It goes where you think about the same time you think it. It is the best handling car I've ever driven. And last but not least I think the Germans told the US lawyers to take a leap, one touch windows, down and up. A car made for grown ups. So, both cars have their strong points and their weakneeses aren't that bad. I decided I wanted a larger car with a few more luxuries that still handles relatively well. So far I am happy.
