Abbottized base 9-5 or Aero?

My wife is thinking about a 9-5. We would probably buy used and let somebody else take the initial depreciation hit like we did with our 9-3 which we love. She likes to drive quickly and is impressed with the power but not so much the handling of my 9-3. "Easy to drive fast - difficult to drive smoothly"
The 9-5 is much easier to drive smoothly (great chassis) but the base would certainly need to be abbotized to match her expectations. Note that she wants a slushbox automatic.
Here are the options.
1999-2001 Base 9-5 (2.3) which gets Abbotts' treatment of ECU and some suspension modifications (probably to the tune of $2K I assume)
1999-2001 Aero in slushbox form. My concern here is that its power is limited vs the 5spd and it's still only a 4spd automatic. Not sure if it's worth $10K more than the base. Ok, make it $8K after the Abbott modifications.
2002/2003 Aero slushbox. Still a possibility of buying a new one or a leftover if they actually exist. I'd really like to see her get the 5spd auto with the shift buttons on the steering wheel. Let's assume a great deal on this would be about $36K.
What about a 2002/2003 base 2.3 with an upgraded ECU from Abbott/SwedishDynamics, etc? Not sure about this one.
Thank you in advance for your opinions,
Bill
