That's all that I run in my Jetta. 100k miles on the original 1.8 16V, and when I pulled it out to bolt up the 2.0 16V, the valve train looked like it had only 10k miles. Funny enough though, the 40k mile 2.0 that I bought must have been a Pennzoil engine, the interior was dyed red and ugly with a capital U.
BTW, I sold the 1.8 to a techinician of ours for his Golf rally-cross car.
