I'm often a lurker. Oh, and I'm not Dr. Pogeybait, yet... Still working on the thesis research and a final manuscript (which keeps me off this board most of the time).
You mention that Saab felt this was no longer necessary, but I wonder if it isn't just a cost cutting maneuver, much like cutting out the tire rotations at the scheduled services. Even if it is unnecessary, it buys peace of mind for a small price. Besides, it was good to get aquainted with that part of the car early on.
Just picked up a bottle jack and stands in preparation for a rotation at 5K. Oh, and a sunny day so the temp gets up above freezing!
