Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF...... Posted by REM in Seattle [Email] (#4) [Profile/Gallery] (more from REM in Seattle) on Tue, 24 Oct 2000 11:18:45 In Reply to: Re: Synthetic ATF, Turboman, Tue, 24 Oct 2000 11:06:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in my 1998 900SET at 10,000 miles. I have 35,000 miles now and all is well.
Do be advised that a 'normal' ATF change only removes about half of the 7 quarts of fluid in the system. The remaining 3.5 quarts are held in the torque converter. Although Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is compatible with regular ATF, my strategy has been to change the ATF every 10,000 miles to remove the remainder of the factory fill. I figure 4 regular ATF changes should be sufficient to feel comfortable that the factory fluid is gone.
I am not sure how the use of Mobil 1 synthetic ATF can 'void' the warrenty as the manual states to use Dexron III ATF and the Mobil 1 meets all the requirements of Dexron III ATF.
