Yes, your final buyout price is directly reflected in your monthly payment. Dropping the resid by 1000 should add about 27 bucks to your payment, since you are paying off more car. Its actually a bit more, depending on maney rate, etc. That how they can play with monthly figures - alter the resdiual value and you've got a better number.
getting into a Japanese car is going to cost you more, actually. Even if you were to lease, their money rates simply aren't as good as those that Saab/GM promotes. The payments will be quite similar. Neighbors picked up a Camry XLE V6 the same week we got our 9-5, much to their chagrin. Their payment is a whopping 65 dollars more/month, same down, for a car that was 10K less. Why? Money rate.
Their 36 month payment total was within 500 bucks of ours.
So now thats out of the way, even though its a more expensive car, I'd still look into another 9-5 - no maintenance, joyful driving, and remember - you don't have a security deposit this time around, and an extra 500 bucks from Saab.
