I have an '00 9-5 Aero wagon under lease. Lease is up at end of June. Like the idea of a wagon for the family, and one I like to drive. Choices: Audi A6--weak performance-wise. All-Road, like the 2.7 engine but paying for all that off-road stuff which don't really need, which only is a drag on performance. BMW 5 series--rear wheel drive (enough said). New E Class w/4matic--a dream (other than price $$$). Volvo--xc, not exciting, and not exciting to drive. V70, not impressed. New V70R with all wheel drive--seems very intriguing, reasonably priced (comparable to an Aero), but not here yet and very few wagons coming in. Aero, well, familiar, which is good and bad. Does not have 4 wheel drive capability which is bad. Minor changes from '00, which is barely evolutionary. Have had a miserable experience with low profile 17" wheels and tires (many blowouts and bent rims here in NYC). Plus, I have trouble spending so much money on a car that I can't drive in the winter, and to do so have to spend close to a grand for another set of tires/wheels and deal with storing them (which, if you're a cave dweller in the City, is no easy task). Plesae forward comments and insights.
