Completely different cars. Strange that Saab could move so far ahead in five years.
The NG900 I own is a convertible, and, persistent/annoying/pricey top issues aside, it has been a pretty strong runner. It corners better than you'd expect, adn even my base S engine (sadly non-turbo!) has been fun to drive. Ditto on the too frequent coolant warnings and rattles, but the auto tranny lasted til 90k miles with virtually no problems. It did, however, cost almost 3k to replace recently. I drive the little bugger (as we affectionately call it) very seldom these days, but the overall exterior and interior design and 'cockpit' are remarkable in and of themselves. It feels like the last of a breed, like something truly left over from another era almost. Inside with the top up I feel like I'm in a cocoon/womb with the thick winter convertible top--this may help explain while I'm reluctant to sell it, this coupled with the fact that it was way too expensive new and is now worth less than 17% of the price new in only 5 1/2 short years.
The 02' 9-5 is a completely different animal. It is a full on do it all DRVING MACHINE, again, even in the Linear form. Ditto again on the added weight, though this is fine by me as the car feels/acts/looks so substantial. Let's just say that if I didn't feel so smart/rational buying the NG900 convertible I definitely feel smart/rational having the 9-5.
Still, I gotta love them both.
Jon
