I get it! That's a good one! April Fools! (slapping knee, right now!!)
Oh heck, wait a minute ... OK, so 'splain this part to me: if I put any ol' oil in my car, & change it every 5k miles, & never have it analyzed, when should I expect to sell it to the next guy? And do I ask fair market value for it, or something less? Or maybe more, 'cuz I've been changing plain oil on the more frequent "severe" schedule? And do I need to care about whomever gets my car? I mean, they must not be in as good shape, financially, as I am, right? Otherwise they wouldn't be buying my used car, while I go get my new replacement. Do I need to worry that my maintenance habits might be causing them hardship down the road, or is it now fully their concern?
Sorry, but it's not simply a case of "too many bigger problems to worry about." I can't control what happens to folks on other parts of the planet; only what happens to the folks I come in contact with. If you're truly concerned about the bigger issues, find the best oil available, install a bypass filter on all of your cars, & run that oil for 100,000 miles between changes. That will eliminate your need for nearly 20 gallons of refined oil, & that's on a dinky 4qt capacity car! On a more standard 6qt capacity, that's nearly 30 gallons. And that doesn't even begin to consider all the additional time you'll have for changing lives 'cuz you're not changing oil anymore. If you want to positively affect people in your lifetime, look to your own habits & treatment of others.
[OK, off soapbox]
