Every dealer I've spoken with and Mike Lynch on this board will tell you that it costs the dealer ~$1200 to certify the car. I cannot confirm or deny this. However, I just purchased a certified used 9-5 wagon and was very impressed with the thoroughness of the program. This is the second certified car I've had the opportunity to inspect (my father purchased a sedan a few months ago), and both cars looked spanking new when done. It's a very good program and well worth the premium. Given what I spent on my wagon, there is no need to pay the full $1200 on top of the asking price.
I would be happy to share what I paid for my 99', but I traded in a 9-3 at the time and we concentrated on the differential rather than the absolute cost of the 9-5.
