Doesn't matter on a T7 car Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Fri, 27 Oct 2000 02:36:13 In Reply to: Re: Test 9-5 Aero vs 330i, CWM, Thu, 26 Oct 2000 16:52:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
The altitide and ambient air temp doesn't make any difference whatsoever on a T7 car (I tried to explain this in detail in a post titled "Fundamentals" in a Viggen thread on the Performance BB).
A T7 car, contrary to a T5 car (9K, NG 900, some 9-3s) does not work to achieve a preset boost curve in the ECU Software. Instead it works to acheieve a preset torque curve. It will adjust the boost level given ambient air temp, altitude etc. so that it reaches the preset torque.
A T5 car, such as my 9K Aero, will work to achieve the preset boost. This means that there is a very noticeable difference in power between a warm, dry summer day and a cold, humid day in October...
Therefore the great thing about a 9-5, as Coolknight discovered, is that you will get your power on any day (almost) regardless of temp and altitude.
Hope this straightens things out for you...
Rgds
