A/C Condensation Draining at Startup Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Sun, 17 Aug 2003 14:46:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I read a post related to starting the car with the ACC system on Auto(I have always avoided having the AC turned on when starting non-automatic climate control cars but have left it alone in the Saab - hoping those engineers have it optimally programmed to last!). It reminded me of a question I have about the condensation drains on my wife's 01 9-5 wagon. We are in Texas so the AC runs almost all the time. When she starts the car, it seems like a lot of water gets dumped out the bottom leaving 2 puddles in the garage. I guess this is condensation that gathers in some type of reservoir as the car sits after being shut off. My questions are 1) is there a reservoir for this water? 2) If so, why? Is there possibly something wrong with her car? I would think it would be better for this water to just slowly drip out the bottom and dry up to avoid any corrosion problems, bacterial growth, etc.
