Inside the climate unit is an evaporator and when the heat is absorbed, condensation forms on the evaporator pipes and cooling fins. This condensation is drained away through two drain hoses under the car. Rather large amounts of water can collect under a stationary car in certain climate conditions. Info from the AllData website.
I read in a post that the drain hoses used to be 1/2" hoses but were reduced to 3/8" hoses which can cause the moisture to bottleneck at that connection with the evaporator...because it's possible for minerals to accumulate and slow the drainage process. But, it also said that the moisture should drain while the vehicle is stationary, either running or off. Nothing about drainage at initial startup.
Do you have any moisture in the rear footwells?
