I recently purchased a 2003 Linear. Drove both the ARC w/touring package and the Linear w/premium package. Both were service loaners. Here's what I considered.
Arc seemed heavier although I think I think is less than 250lbs difference.
Arc accelerated more smoothly and a little faster. 200HP vs. 185HP and more torque in the Arc
Arc had ventilated seats, rear parking assist and Bi Xenon headlights. (Not really important to me)
Linear has 200 watt eight speaker Hermon Kardon system (Who can hear the difference in the engine sound)
Arc has more peak torque.(not sure I would use the peak torque all that often, OK, maybe once in awhile)
Linear gets slightly better gas mileage
I understand that the V6 is being discontinued in 2004
Linear was 2.5k less and had only 3,500 miles rather than the 9,000 on the Arc.
Linear is Midnight Blue with Beige interior, Arc was black with Beige. Color was very important to my wife.
I don't think you will go wrong either way. For me it came down to personal preference. I just did not really need the extra power with Arc. Good Luck.
