noise when engaging first gear

I bought a 2000 9-5 Aero Wagon 5-speed several months ago, with 26,000 miles on it. Sometimes, when I engage first gear starting from a dead stop, there will be a brief "honking" noise. Sounds like a friction issue to me, but in three trips to the dealer, the dealer insists the clutch is not failing. They have lubed the mechanism twice and most recently replaced the device that keeps you from starting the car when its in gear.
Any thoughts?
