Its hard to say without inspection where the oil went, if it went anyplace at all. Perhaps the best thing to do now is engage in a little test.

I'd suggest doing a complete oil change yourself or by someone you trust and can watch. The V6 takes 4.75 qts so buy 5 quarts, pour off 8 ounces (I use a plastic measuring cup to eliminate the excess), and dump the rest of the oil in the engine. Change the filter too. You can use an AC Delco PF53 which most major parts stores carry. NAPA auto parts oil filter is a FIL1348. For oil I liked the Castrol Syntec 0W-30 "Made in Germany" in my V6 but Mobil One 5W-30 would work fine. The filter is really easy to remove and the drain plug needs a 6 point 13mm wrench or socket. I could do a complete oil change on my V6 in about 20 mins.

After you're done note the level on the dipstick. At this point you know *exactly* how much oil is in the engine and you can check it on a regular basis to see how much oil is being lost over a certain period of time and mileage. The cause of oil loss could be a few things. But at least a full oil change and close monitoring gets you started at Sqaure One and you can go from there. FWIW to you my V6 barely used a drop of oil between changes, some as long as 6500 miles. So I hope you find its some kind of external leak which is easily fixed. Best of luck to ya!!
