So after 4000 miles with those Michelin Pilot HX tires
and 2 flats, 1 out of round and lots of noise and rather
poor wet handling... I got 4 Dunlop SP9000 225/45/17ZR
put on my Aero last friday. (French wine is OK, but not tires)
The tires were inflated to 2.5 bars, installed, deflated
and filled with NITROGEN 2.6 bars front, 2.45 bars rear
which is my regular tire pressure setting for most of my
driving. The dealer put on those funny looking green caps
on the tire valves to remind other shops that the tires
are filled with NITROGEN (gas comes out a big NITROGEN bootle)
This weekend I drove 700 miles through Switzerland over
regular roads and freeways, so here are my feelings towards
the SP9000s.
My driving was at speeds up to 85Mph, which is fast enough
for most everyday use.
Quick face off: (worst 1 best 10 Tire vs Tire)
Pilot HX SP9000
Noise 5 10 (Huge improvement)
Turn in 10 9
Wet 5 10
Braking 5 10
Still Cold 10 8
Warned up 5 10
Predictable 8 10
Grooves 10 8
Truck grove 10 8
Exp. joints 7 10
Comfort 5 10 (Huge improvement)
small bumps 10 8
While the SP9000 might not much quicker on a track,
it's so much more silent and predictable then the
Pilot HX that's it is really worth the money!
If you sit on the passanger seat on a good road
at 85Mph and your close your eyes, it sound like
you're in a quiet Jet just flying around. AMAZING!
I can only recomend the DUNLOP SP9000 for everyday use.

Coolknight
Hey SAAB put the SP9000 on as OEM tires and introduce NITROGEN
inflation in all SAAB dealerships.
