I agree completely - also add the sun roof to that loop, and the OnStar too, and maybe the cig lighter/power point. It is a real PITA to have to have the ignition ON to work these. Seems like 'blinders on' engineering to me.
This has been one of my pet peeves since I bought my first 9000 ('86), and I have repeatedly written to Saab suggesting that they change this wiring. It wouldn't cost a cent to correct this irritation, and it would make for a much more convenient car.
In fact, on all of my 9000s I did change the wiring, moving the windows/sun roof fuses over to the line that is hot as long as the key is in the lock. Actually, to get more power there, I took apart the ignition lock and hot-wired two of the poles together so that the ACCessory line had juice as long as the key was in the lock. My 9-5 is still too new for me to mess with the wiring yet, but I am certainly going to fix this deficiency when I'm no longer concerned with the warrantee.
