Welp...went to a different dealer here in CT that I had no idea existed. I'm now sitting here at Valenti Motors in Watertown, CT...I always try to go to SAAB of Westport, just didnt feel like making the drive and i found out this one was so much closer to home. Service rep seems really cool and understanding and more than helpful. Going to diagnose what's wrong among a few other squeaks and rattles since my rear end collision (which by the way, turned out to be a disater...I've had to have the work completely redone). They seem to think the a/c problem might just be as simple as a fuse since I'm not getting any error codes, but they aren't ruling out the possibility of a faulty compressor.
The brake light failure was the weirdest thing, msg was coming on constantly, but wife followed me home on a 45 mile trip from Darien > Woodbury via a bunch of backroads so I had to hit the brakes a lot...she said not once did a brake light seem to be out. Switched bulbs around and still got the msg....tried all connections to make sure everything was tight, was fine, but still got the msg. Even took out the bulbs again to check the filaments under a magnifying glass...still fine. Cleaned connections, put back in and got the msg right away...brake lights still on. Went to the autobody where the car was finally fixed correctly, they put in all new bulbs for me and now everything is fine. Said something about 'power not being read evenly from each side can cause this'....whatever, no more message.
So...as far as dealers in CT and autobody repairs....STAY FAR THE F*CK AWAY from anything owned by Zee Automotive. Worst advice I've ever heard, and their body shop is a joke. They told me it was a SAAB proprietary shop for the most part and 99% of the work they do is on SAAB. Well, I was the only person there with a SAAB out of about 40 cars. When my car was repaired correctly at a new shop, the guys came out in disbelief about the way the car was repaired the first time. Allstate's estimate of $1800 was all that they did as far as work...nothing supplemental. Horrible work, lines all out of wack, shakey rear end, bad alignment, and a twist to the back end.
Just got the car back the other week and am more than happy. Carland Autobody in Danbury, CT is a GREAT place...I would go there again in a heartbeat, very professional, knowledgeable and completely customer service oriented. They found the rear panel to be crumpled along with a bunch of other things caused by being rear ended. In fact, I cannot see any of the work that they did because it's so clean. Plus...it was another $2000 on top of the original $1800.
I'm just glad to have my Aero back in top form...I love driving this car, but now considering an extended warranty for the future...just a bit scared.
Oh yeah...this place is also one of 2 Lotus dealerships here in CT and I'm staring at a bright yellow 2004 Espirit right now....and a red one. I think I'll try to stir up a test drive :)
Regards!
