The simple & plain truth is that the stick is faster, gets better gas mileage and is more fun. Sorry, I just like to be involved in that part of the driving experience. A/ts are for people who need their hands free to talk on the phone of hold their coffee.
In reality I will admit most people will never notice the performance difference (just like a fair portion of Aero drivers could've just bought an LPT, given how they drive). And the stick is less than no fun sitting in city traffic.
I would tell you if you would even consider an a/t you should buy it, because that part of the driving experience isn't at the top of your list.
