"It will always come down to this" ? Till you cannot buy one that is. How many other pieces of the technology puzzle have been eliminated by metter ideas that were initially cursed because they represented change? Vent windows? Spark advance? Manual chokes? Heavy rigid, non yeilding fenders? How about an in dash 8 track? The list goes on. Saying that if you are not manually changing your won gears then you are not truly driving? Are you really serious? The manual transmisson is not sacred. It has both advantages and drawbacks.Try to be just a little more realistic about this.Lots of carefull and safe drivers drive automatics. My prediction is that most of the high end sport sedans you referenced will abandon the conventional manual for the paddle shifted electrohydraulic, and when that happens you will not find manuals with clutches in cars like BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc. It's already happening at Audi and BMW. Care to venture a guess when Saab will follow suit?
