When I first got my 9-5 and still had the buyer's tags on the car, I noticed on more than one occasion that a BMW owner would jockey around traffic just to pull alongside, give me a look, as if to say, "you could have bought a Bimmer", and then speed away. It could have been coincidence except for that pause and look they gave as they pulled alongside.
Before getting my Saab, and shopping around for entry-level luxury, BMW topped my list. That is until I sat in 3-series and decided the Germans made no consideration for 6'4" drivers in their entry-level cars (that goes for Audi too). Even more annoying was the sales environment at BMW. I just couldn't stand the elitist attitude they had about how their products were unrivaled and my price sensitivity suggested I perhaps shouldn't be looking at BMW. Give me a break, everyone is price sensitive!
With Saab's incentive programs, I could get into the much larger 9-5 LPT loaded to the hilt for LESS than a stripped down 325i.
For me, Saab gives me more driving enjoyment for the money, a 5-series experience for less than the cost of a 3. I'm not losing any sleep that there's not a roundel on the hood of my car.
