There is an easy answer to the question.
You drove the BMW and you drove the Saab and you bought the one you liked more. Its that simple. Don't over engineer the answer - - - it would be like arguing why chocolate ice cream is better than strawberry etc.
Now if you drove the BMW and your drove the Saab and you like the BMW and you bought the Saab - - -well then you were either intellectually dull or else your finanical resources were such that you might have opted for the Saab if it cost less.
Typically BMW's don't do much for me - - - if I ignore the proposed branding/marketing appeal of the car - - I find I like the Saab more. Many people buy a BMW because they were highly influenced by the marketing message and they felt the need to be part of a certain grouping of people. Most people do not drive a car at the extremes which favor the BMW.
Interesting point to consider - - Toyota does not market the Lexus brand in Japan. The exact same Toyotas in Japan do not have the same appeal as luxury cars from Germany - - Toyota is considering utilizing the Lexus brand in Japan to sell more 'luxury' cars which are currently badged as a Toyota. This is a clear indicator that people are persuaded heavily by branding and marketing.
In other words - - people are very similar to mice & rats that are trained to respond in a certain way to certain stimuli.
So I guess it really comes down to whether or not you act like a mouse or a rat - - or a higher form of intelligence.
