They replied to both the dealer AND me "have the owner provide receipts for the last three oil changes, and well cover the repair". (Was their reply in writing ?)
If Jim's advice doesn't work I would contact the Better Business Bureau and also seek out an attorney.
It's also my humble opinion that their comment about tearing down the engine to determine the extent of damage is a stall tactic given what labor rates at dealerships run.
