he does accelerate and shift smoothly (even if it's fast), and doesn't get near the redline. Good thing, because there's no way he would read anything about driving---it's backcountry skiing and climbing for him; not cars! My question arose because my "ex" wouldn't let me take his BMW 320 over 1800 rpm's before shifting, but he couldn't really explain why. I tend to drive that way anyway, because I spent so much time in Alaska---you learn a soft touch on the throttle, or else! But since this is my first turbo, I wondered if anything is different. On nice dry ice-free pavement, I might even enjoy an occasional "maniac" start myself. But I plan to keep this car a l-o-n-g time, so I don't want to do anything that will shorten its life expectancy.
