Areo now, or Aero later?

Perhaps you folks out there can help me with my “dilemma.” My lease on my current 9-5 expires 9/26. I have interest in the 2002 models, but from what I can find out they may not be at the dealers near the time my lease expires. Nor do I have any idea what their costs will actually be or what purchase/leasing incentives will be in place then.
I’ve test driven the 2001 Aero and, with the current lease incentives, I’m very tempted to lease one. The lease price the dealer is quoting me is about $490/mo. + taxes. This is for an Aero with heated seats and automatic transmission. The price seems good.
However, I’m wondering if I should wait for the 2002 models and what might be the expected monthly payment for the new Aero models? Does anyone think it will it be fairly comparable without the incentives now offered on the 2001’s? Has anyone leased an Aero before the current incentives took effect? What were your monthly payments and deal like?
Also, I’m not sure if I want an automatic or manual transmission. Initially I’d not considered the manual transmission because the one on my ’99 9-5 sometimes can be balky. The manual transmission on the ’01 Aero I test-drove seemed smoother and less demanding. Is it a better transmission? I know they’re hydraulic now. Any comments on this from Aero owners? The automatic seems a tad slower (to be expected), but otherwise quite smooth. Is the new 5 speed autobox really worth waiting for? Should there be any significant increase in the gas milage with this new transmission?
Thanks in advance for your comments and help!
