I've seen people replace their belts with the incorrect size before. Saabs come with both 9mm and 10mm pulleys. Books always list the 9mm belts for saabs, however many need a 10mm belt to fill the pulley. A belt that is too skinny will sink down into the pulley too far and slip instead of grip.
