After looking at 20 or so in my area, I ended up with an red 87.
It is very clean on the outside, all origional paint, and has never been hit. It looks fantastic.
Everything works (A/C seat heaters, origional stereo) except Cruise Control, which is most likely an easy fix
It has a new top and rear window. They are both OEM
It has a rebuilt 5spd. 5k ago
New clutch, tires and what not
It has a non cracked dash.
It runs fairly well, but I am still chasing down some vacuum leaks
Adult owned
The carpets have normal fading, but no tears.
The front seats are from a 89+, and are very nice. The passenger side seat has a 1 inch broken seam which I am going to try to fix this weekend
The rear seat is okay but isn't a perfect match to front seats, I am ordering a new one from SAABSTUFF.
The wheels are stock, but perfect.

I really had wanted an 88 or 89, but they were all either autos or beat up. I settled on this car, because it is in such nice shape. The thing with 87's are the crummy brakes. Also, this car has just a touch of rust underneith where the subframe meets the floorpan. I cleaned it out and sprayed a couple coats of rust converter on it then undercoated it. It really wasn't that bad, no perforation or anything.

I'll have a little over $7k in this car when I am done with it. It will be very nice.

I didn't want to spend that much, but when I got looking around, everything I saw was either in an accident, or an automatic. I really wanted an older one, and they are hard to find in decent shape. Don't underestimate how much it will cost to fix one up. Parts are pretty expensive.

Good luck,
Aaron
