I got a 1987 900t from Florida with no rust about three months ago. It is in great shape and I am very happy with it. Perhaps the biggest problem is the relatively poor maintenance it received, so I had a lot of things go wrong at first. The big ticket items fortunately all happened under the 30 day warranty, and I have only done minor stuff to it since.
Since I got it from a dealer (AutoBrokers Unlimited near Nashua, New Hampshire) I paid a very high price - $7000 for a car with 112,000 miles on it. But as you know it is very hard to find clean 900turbos in this part of the country - most have significant rust problems. So I held my nose and paid it, but I figure it cost me $2000-3000 or so more than I would have paid for a similar car in Mass from a private sale with rust and no warranty. I got about $1400 worth of stuff fixed under warranty (the dealer was very good about that) and a few freebies like new tires thrown in, so that narrows the cost difference somewhat. Still, you have to really hate rust (as I do) to go that route.

Good luck! Tell us what you end up doing!
