Hmm, you were running 23 psi... then your car "took a crap"... I see a pretty obvious cause/effect relationship here. Perhaps this is why people regard 23 psi as a little excessive? It advisable ( at least by me!) for a street car to concentrate on making the motor more efficient and making more power at less boost, lower revs, etc. Unfortuantly this is much more expensive than just giving it a little more boost. However, the car will be more streetable, faster in normal driving circumstances, and probably more reliable. 30 psi is going to put a tremendous amount of heat into the engine, and it will have a detrimental effect upon preformance and reliabliity (without a giant turbo that will creat appaling turbo lag) Our cars dont have the exhaust pressure at low revs so spin up a big ass turbo quickly, so although your could see 30+ psi easily on the top end with a large turbo, the large turbine and trim would take a long time to spin up with only 2.0 liters worth of exhaust drving them. Turbos are a compromise...its that simple. It all depends what you want.
