I grew up in the muscle car and Dodge Shelby world, and I know the performance game real well there, but I'm still not sure what route to take with my 89 base model. The car is quick as is, but of course I still want more :P I've already hollowed out the cat (exhuast broke free on a rally run, so it was one of those "while I'm there" kind of things). But before I go too far, and spend too much, I want to make sure I am heading in the right direction. Besides a good tuneup, I was thinking a cat back system first. I was going to have my local parts store order a K&N filter, but after looking at the airbox, it looks awfully restrictive as is. And looking at the intake tube, it almost looks like it should have some sort of ram air attached, otherwise I was thinking about trying to fab up my own. Is the engine computer reprogrammable in any way? I was starting to tinker with burning my own chips for my Chevy S10, it would be great if I could do the same here too. Outside of that, I don't know what would be the most responsive after that-cam? injectors? fuel pressure mods? head work? etc. I can handle doing the work just fine, I have done everything to all my other vehicles, including rear end gear changes, and full engine/tranny rebuilds. I just don't know what avenues to take with this car.
