Peter,
Have you connected dwell meter to the Lamda plug by the fuses to verify that you are indeed running too rich? The bently manual discusses how to do it and you should be oscillating between 45-50% The high idle could be a vacuum leak. While the engine is running go around and pinch all of the hoses connected to the intake manifold and see if the idle changes. If it does then you've found the culprit. Also make sure that all of the clamps on the rubber hoses are tight. Let us know what you find.
