Lucas is quite different compared to LH, but one thing what makes idle poor is missing speed signal. It should work so that when you are at move (over 8km/h or something) idle is above 1000rpm and when almost stopped idle should be normal. I saw in one Lucas car where´s no speed signal, AIC didn´t adjust at all when stopped and sometimes when driving it stayed 1500rpm. That could also work other way...
