Everyone is basically correct here. My 86 900T has the little tabs for a badge, but the North American model did not come with them. The picture of one for the N.A. model on the owner's manual will verify this. The European models, to include those exported to the Commonwealth, had the small badge in the grille, as can be readily seen in old advertisements and Saab writings from the time. This holds true for at least most of the 900's up through 1988. I am not sure about the late 80s and early 90s models. Most N.A. dealers will even have the part number listed in their books and can order one new if you really want one or I am sure that there are many Saabers who may have an extra lying around that they would be willing to part with for the right price.
