the 86 cooling fan wiring is the same as the 85.
1. Check fuse #22 first.
2. Power goes directly from this fuse to timer relay...if you do not know where this is....look at Picture #3 at http://members.aol.com/darenius/
85SAAB/85SAAB.html....look to top right hand corner for black relay with white lettering....clipped onto engine compartment wall. Has two big yellow/green stripe wires on connector to bottom....one of them comes from the fuse mentioned above...the other goes directly to radiator temperature switch on drivers side radiator top....the relay gets activated by the two smaller wires you see and the two large yellow wires are them connected together by the relay...
The radiator temperature switch closes on increasing water temperature..as mentioned one side of the switch is the yellow/green stripe..the other side of the switch is green which runs directly down past where you were working on that hose and over to the passengers side fan...chances are you may have knocked off a wire on the temperature switch....
