The '86 SPG in Edwardian grey has clear coat stock from the factory. A pint of Sikkens 158B will be about $28-$30. You will need more than a pint for your hood. I have been spraying small items lately, grills, vent covers, gas cap flap. Shooting the Edw. grey is no problem its getting the clear coat to flow smoothly. I would try to get the Sikkens as it is the factory paint. For the hood I would have a professional paint it as it is a large area that is highly visible. You want it to look right. Ask Dave N. he just had his hood painted on his '87 SPG. Was maybe $300?
Good luck
