Yes, you can temporarily use DOT3. However, don't leave it in any longer than necessary. Get the leak fixed, then be sure the system is completely flushed (this is a 30,000 mi. maintaince item anyway...). Multiple "ways" to flush system if you do it yourself. I have a Stant radiator pressure tester with an adapter that works to pressure the resevoir; others use home made systems (search old posts; some very creative people here). 2 person method works too. Don't forget to flush clutch as well.
