rear suspension bushing trick

i just changed the rubber bushings in the rear suspension rod that connects the top of the rear axle to the body. It has one large pressed-in bushing at the axle and one small one at the body end. Well, I used a bolt to force the new one in like I do with the front a-arm bushings. The hole doesn't have a large enough radius so it cut the rubber up and pretty much destroyed my new bushing. So I grabbed the 2nd new bushing meant for the other side. I put a hose clamp around the bushing and used the bolt to force it in the hole again. It works! The clamp keeps the rubber from expanding before it goes into the bracket/rod hole. Another thing I believe will help: Before you tighten the rod bolts down.. Put the wheel back on and Jack the axle up (place jack right beneath shock, not in center) just enough to get the wheel off. Then tighten the nuts and bolts at each end of that suspension bar. I believe this tightens the bushings down so they're oriented at the normal travel height. This way, the rubber bushing doesn't get rotated too much to ruin the rubber. Does this make sense?
