Katie-Nicole, and others with sensitivity, this will come across as very harsh. Please, toughen up. Youth and gender can no longer be relied upon to overcome advesity. I'm the quintesential "middle-aged white guy" and here's my recent blunders. 1993 900S, picked it up, A/C was "frigid". Twelve miles later, hotter than heck. Dealer said bring it back to him. I did, he was out of business!!! Bought a 1989 9000; transmission worked on the test drive. On the first stop to get fuel, back up to the pumps, no reverse gear! It happens to us all. Now for your specifics. Did you sign the AS IS form at the consumation of sale? This is a large piece of paper that says either a warranty exists (see dealer) or AS IS. This is a Federaly mandated form that applies to ALL used auto sales, including those of private transfer (ususally ignored). This alleviates the dealer from all responsibliity, unless the repairs were part of the sales contract; actually there in writing. The price you paid is really about average here in the South East. I sold a 1987 automatic 900S convertible 2 months ago for $2,795; I had $1,700 in the car. It was clean and straight but the power top was inoperative. It was priced low. If you got a wheel bearing repair and hood release you were lucky. As others have said the power window is probably a small item. If not used regularly mine will stick and need a little tug to get to move. The top is another matter. I see no reason to hold you car "hostage" because the top is inoperative and you choose to not have it repaired at the dealer's shop. Take you car home. The top can be operated manually. Disconnect the hydraulic connection and standing in the back floor board pull the top up out of the well. Not convenient but it works. Keep reading this board. It has the friendliest people with the most knowledge of any web sight I've ever come across. Don't allow a small person (the dealer) to spoil your enjoyment of that first SAAB. Cheerful driving, PFB.
